Permission Marketing Promise

Bronto Software is committed to permission-based email marketing. This commitment is consistent with our goal of helping our clients become better marketers and ensure the highest levels of deliverability for them. To apply this, we require our clients and our clients’ customers to adhere to our Permission Marketing Policy.

As part of this policy, we expressly forbid any of our clients to send unsolicited bulk email, commonly known as “spam”, through our email marketing product. In simplest terms, “spam” is email sent to a group of recipients who have not explicitly requested to receive it. This extends beyond the minimum legal requirements of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and is essential for inbox deliverability of bulk email to all major ISPs.

How does Bronto avoid “spam”?

Our clients agree to adhere to our permission marketing policy as part of their subscription agreement. Also, clients are required to have an unsubscribe link prominently displayed in their message as well as reaffirm their agreement to the Permission Marketing Policy every time before importing their opt-in email lists into their account.

We monitor unsolicited complaints and other indicators of poor permission marketing practices very closely. We consult and take corrective actions with clients when complaint levels exceed acceptable levels and/or their list growth practices are in violation of this policy. Clients who are not able to come into compliance with this policy are subject to various enforcement measures, including termination.

We work hard to keep abreast of the latest developments with spam, phishing, and other abuses of email marketing. As part of that goal, we are active members with the Email Experience Council (EEC) and the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG).

Why did you receive an email from Bronto?

Clients use the Bronto product to send email message to their opt-in lists. You should only receive email messages from senders that you have agreed to receive email from. Bronto does not sanction our clients using our product to send spam. We encourage you to email abuse@bronto.com if you did not agree to receive email from one of our clients. We will investigate the issue and address with the client, as described above.

How can Bronto prevent a company from sending you more email?

Every Bronto client and our clients’ customers using our email marketing solution must include the following in each bulk email message:

        i.   Hypertext link for the recipient to unsubscribe from receiving future messages,
        ii.  Its physical address, as dictated by the CAN-SPAM Act.

If you follow the unsubscribe instructions in the email, we will work with the client to make sure that you do not receive future bulk email. Alternatively, you can also use your email inbox’s “report as spam” button to mark the message as spam. We work with the major ISPs to follow-through on unsubscribe requests and address unsolicited email complaints from offending messages and evaluate the complaint and our clients’ practices.

Our clients are required to comply with any email unsubscribe request in accordance with CAN-SPAM and all other applicable laws.
